Production of Barriques at Heinrich Gies, our german cooper
German Oak 35KB The staves are heated and simultaneously moistened with water.
German Oak 35KB This makes the staves elastic and they can then be bent into shape with steel ropes.
German Oak 51KB The staves are charred. This process is called Toasting.
German Oak 49KB Depending on the time spent over the fire the cooper can produce barriques with either a light, medium or heavy toast.

This barrique is lightly toasted
German Oak 41KB This barrique is medium toasted.
German Oak 42KB This barrique is heavily toasted.
