Harvest time is the most popular time of year at a winery, and it is certainly the time of year that resonates most strongly in the minds of people when they discuss the workings of a modern wine estate. Many people don’t even realize that a winery is a year round operation, thinking that making wine is a simple matter of going out to the vineyard every autumn to pick the grapes and make the wine.

Winemaking at a modern winery requires many different tasks spread throughout the year. We like to say that there is a job for every season, but it would be closer to the truth to say that there are various jobs for every season, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. This section contains a behind the scenes look at the day to day that takes place throughout the year in a winery.
